The highly anticipated first debate between US Vice President candidates, Vice-Presindet Mike Pince and US Senator Kamala Karris , occurred in Salt-Lake City, Utah, on  Wednesday, October 7, 2020 from 9:00 PM to 10:30 PM EST. However, the anticipation was disruped by an weird event that has nothing to do with the critical topics that the US citizens and the World was foward looking, followin the drama and the clashes between the two US presidential candidates, during the debate last week,  marked by bitter attacks and  frequently talking over each other, to the apparent dismay of the debate moderator.

The debate between the two vice-presidential candidates focused on the unprecedented failings, from Kamala Harris perspective or the historical successes of President Trump's presidency.

Distraction: A Black Fly that Stole the Show

At the onset, people appeared to expect an open  and enriching discussion  after last week debate between the two Presidential candidates. Then, a black fly landed on Vice-President Pence’s head partway through the debate, stayed there for around two minutes and became the biggest buzz generators of the night. The Fly become so important that afterwards, the Joe Bide campaign created  a sales promotion of “Truth over flies” fly swatters.

Apart from the fly, some interruptions became a subject of arguing. Kamal Harris said on several occasions, at least three times: “I’m speaking", "Mr. Vice President, I’m speaking", and  “He interrupted me, and I’d like to just finish, please.”

Kamala' Main Topic: Trump's successes and Failures on COVID-19

Kamala Harris's strategy appeared to focus on President Trump's failures and policies. The main topics evolved around failed efforts to contain coronavirus devasting effects,
attempts to end President Barack Obama’s health-care program, known as Obama Care, the positions on white supremacy and failed trade policies.

among the memorable statements by Kamala Harris, will arguably be the following, made while directly looking into the cameras:  “the greatest failure of any presidential administration in the history of our country... I want to ask the American people, how calm were you when you were panicked about where you’re going to get your next  roll of toilet paper?. How calm were you when your kids were sent home from school and you didn’t know when they could go back?”

Kamala also said that President Trump does not belive in Science.

Pince's Focus: Tax, Military, Fossil Fuels

Attacking Joe Biden, Pince warned that the plan of the Democratic candidates is to raise taxes for the wealthy, limit the production
fossil fuels under the “Green New Deal.” and promote Trade with China. He labelled Biden  as “cheerleader for communist China” and attacked him for, as Vice-President, recommending that the raid that killed al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden be delayed by then President Obama.

Pince dismissed those criticizing President Trump of disrespecting the military heros and veterans . He said: “President Donald Trump not only respects but reveres all those who serve in our armed forces... And any suggestion otherwise is ridiculous.”

Racial Justice: a great divide

Vice-President Mike Pince and US Senator Kamala Harris, as expected,
differed on whether there had been justice for Breonna Taylor,  the Black woman who was killed in her home in Louisville during a police raid. They were referring to the grand jury’s decision not to press murder charges against officers.

I don’t believe so,” Kamala Harris said.

“I trust our justice system,” Mike Pence said.
