Serena Williams, the world No. 1 woman tennis player has won Wimbledon final on Saturday July 9th, 2016. With the win, the American Serena  has a record of 22 grand slam titles,  tying German Steffi Graf's, the most in the Open Era of professional tennis. She  defeated Angelique Kerber 7-5 6-3.

Serena Williams lost in the Australian Open and French Open finals this year and has been chasing the record since.  Kerber beat Williams in Melbourne in January 2016. It was a different story this time. Serena overpowered Kerber on All England Club, despite windy conditions.

At the beginning of the Wimbledon tournament, and even until early this week, Tennis fans had hoped to see a Williams vs. Williams final. When 34-year-old Serena's older sister, 36-year-old Venus reached the semi-final, many expected her to make history to reach the final as the oldest woman tennis player since Martina Navratilova. It did not happen.

But, the handed win and record-tying by Serena offered an exciting  replacement. Fans hope to see Serena Williams reach 23 grand slam titles and beat the record, during the US Open in August 2016.

Go sister Serena!!!
