The Women Tennis world number one, American Serena Williams, has defeated promising Venezuela-born Spaniard Garbine Muguruza to win her sixth Wimbledon singles and her 21th Grand Slam title. Earlier this year, Serena Williams had won her fifth French Open. With the Wimbledon single, she has won, for the second time in her career, four straight majors. She has called "four straight majors" a Serena Slam, saying, after the win, "I can't believe I'm standing here with another Serena Slam"

Serena Williams dominated but did not overwhelm Garbine Muguruza, as she did against Lucie Safarova in the French Open. But, she

ultimately showed her prowess and mastery of the game. At some point Garbine Muguruza, with her strong serve and powerful ground strikes appeared about to repeat last year's French Open scenario, in which she defeated Serena Williams.

Serena Williams beat Garbine Muguruza, 6-4, 6-4. After the match Williams hugged Muguruza before jumping with joy. She later told the media that "Garbine played so well. I didn't even know it was over because she was fighting so hard."

With the victory, Williams becomes the first woman to win the Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon back to back. Williams is now just on shy of Steffi Graf's Open Era record of 22. She may equal Graf's calendar-year Slam (1988) later this year if she wins the U.S. Open.

Serena Williams, 33, already in tennis and sports history, has added another star to her crown. While by her age most players have retired while Williams' game appears to be at its best. She has already surpassed Martina Navratilova by nearly four weeks as the oldest women's grand slam winner in the Open Era. The persistent question of what would be next for the unstoppable woman tennis player remains.

Go girl!
