Nigerian sprinter Blessing Okagbare has, on Friday August 1, 2014, won her second gold in the 2014 Commonwealth games being held in Glasgow. She crossed the 200 m finish line with an increadible speed and well ahead of her competitors, in a time of 22.25 seconds.
On Monday, Blessing had crossed the 100 meter finish line in 10.85 seconds to win the gold (see here).
On Monday she outrunned the Jamaican favorites, Veronica Campbell-Brown and Kerron Stewart and set the Commonwealth record and her personal best, which appeared ot be overjoyed. This time she only managed to outrun her competitors. After the run, she expressed her disappointment of not beating the previous records or finishing in the sub-22 second club, to join the likes of American Olympic Allyson Felix. She promised to be better next time.
This time, she beats the three favorite British athletes, including Jodie Williams and Bianca Williams, who respectively won the silver and the bronze medals.
However, the 25-years old runner still has time in front of her to reach the goal. This is her first Commonwealth game and in the last Olympics, she got a bronze in long jump.
Blessing Okagbare has also the chance to win a third gold medal of the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth when she competes in the 4x100 relay.
