Apple's September 2016 Event: iPhone 7, Apple Watch 2, and Super Mario

On September 7, 2016, Apple Inc unveiled 2 major innovations in its products line-up. The new products include iPhone 7 and Apple Watch 2.0.

The new iPhone, which includes 2 models, 7 and  much bigger 7 Plus,  comes with high-resolution cameras and no headphone jack. The analog headphone jack from both new models was removed and replaced by new headphones that  will plug into the same port as the recharging cord, An adapter will be supplied to  make it incompatible with most wired headphones.

Apple will also supply new wireless headphones, called Air Pods, available in late October at an additional price. The move to Air Pods was described by Apple executives as a transformational movement toward a wireless future in technology.

Moving to wireless headphones created a  room for stereo speakers. Additional technologies were added including advanced cameras. Apple Watch 2 will come with a swim-proof casing and  will be available for sales in more than 25 countries starting on September 16, 2017. Apple Watch will have an improved navigation system, Hermes arm bands, GPS, and games.

The most applauded innovation was the introduction of the Nintendo game franchise, Super Mario Bros, on iPhone and Apple Watch.  Super Mario has been around more than 30 years, and was probably older that most of the people who attended the event.

The Super Mario effect was immediately felt in the market, with Nintendo's shares jumping 29% while the shares of Apple remained almost flat and were expected to trend downward.

Among other devices and technologies launched were the Apple Watch Nike+, in partnership  Nike Inc,  featuring GPS so athletes can track their runs and improved Apple Pay for worldwide launch.
